SOCIAL MINISTER SAIFULLAH YUSUF: “Don’t Use Public Money for Gambling

The Ministry of Social Affairs is carrying out a major cleanup. Minister Saifullah Yusuf confirmed that social aid distribution is now being tightened to make sure it reaches the right people.

The result? Thousands of recipients have been cut from the list. The reason is serious: they were flagged for involvement in online gambling.

This purge isn’t based on guesswork. Kemensos says it’s working with the Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Center (PPATK) to monitor recipients’ financial activity. Anyone flagged for online gambling gets dropped immediately.

“Don’t use public money for gambling. Social aid is for food, for kids’ schooling, not for funding online slots,” Saifullah Yusuf said firmly.

The move sends a clear message: social aid isn’t a free-for-all. With so many people genuinely in need, Kemensos won’t let state money leak into the digital gambling scene.

It’s also a warning to other recipients. If you’re caught gambling online, expect to be cut off and lose your aid.
