Prof. (H.C.) Dr. Rudi Margono, S.H., M.Hum. has been appointed as the Acting Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes (Acting Jampidsus), assuming one of the Indonesian Attorney General's Office's most strategic positions in the fight against corruption and other major criminal offenses.
Prior to his new assignment, Rudi Margono served as the Deputy Attorney General for Supervision (Jamwas), a position he assumed on December 18, 2024. His appointment is expected to ensure continuity in law enforcement and maintain the integrity of ongoing investigations into high-profile criminal cases.
Born in Magetan, East Java, on December 6, 1969, Rudi Margono is a career prosecutor who began his service with the Attorney General's Office in 1994 as a staff member at the Magetan District Prosecutor's Office. Over more than three decades, he has built an extensive career across several key divisions, including Special Crimes, Civil and State Administrative Affairs, and Internal Supervision.
Throughout his professional journey, he has held numerous strategic positions, including Chief Prosecutor of the Jakarta High Prosecutor's Office, Head of the Attorney General's Education and Training Agency (Badiklat), and Deputy Attorney General for Supervision (Jamwas).
Academically, Rudi Margono earned his Bachelor of Laws (S.H.) from Brawijaya University and his Master of Humanities (M.Hum.) from Gadjah Mada University. In 2025, he was awarded the title of Honorary Professor of Criminal Law by Sultan Agung Islamic University (UNISSULA) in recognition of his contributions to legal scholarship and Indonesia's criminal justice system.
During his tenure as a prosecutor, Rudi Margono was involved in handling several landmark corruption cases, including the Jiwasraya and Asabri scandals, as well as other major corruption investigations involving public officials. His extensive experience has earned him recognition as one of Indonesia's senior career prosecutors with expertise in complex financial crime and anti-corruption enforcement.
As Acting Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes, Rudi Margono now faces the challenge of maintaining public confidence in Indonesia's anti-corruption efforts while ensuring that major investigations are conducted professionally, independently, and in accordance with the rule of law.
